I am a senior accounting specialist and have been working for a local government for about 4 years now. The accounting software that we use is extremely outdated. The last accounting software I used prior to taking this job was "Greatplains". I would like to change jobs in the near future, but I know most companies will be using an updated system.
Can someone give me a list of the most poplar accounting systems for large companies; so I can take classes to prepare me for the current job market.

I graduated from UC Berkeley in 2001 with a History degree. i did some museum jobs after graduation. i would like to have a career in accounting. I am planning to go to a local community college to get a certificate in accounting. Will this help me find an good accounting job? I know my BA in History is worthless for the accounting job but will it play a factor on getting an accounting job?

I am planning to study masters in accounting from australia. I do not have any hardcore accounting background however have studied basic accounting in school and college. In addition i have over 5 years of work experience however all of it has been with the customer services industry. I am a bit sceptical about finding a job and what kind of jobs will I be able to get upon completion of this course. As this course is on the shortage occupations list in australia, my goal is to stay back in australia and work in the finance sector. What kind of jobs will I be able to get after this course and after a few years can I move towards investment banking ? Also, what other credits or subjects do I need to study to become a chartered accountant? Thanks …..

I am currently a college student and i am a few hours away from having an associates degree in accounting. I plan on staying another two years in order to obtain my bachelors degree. So my question is, directly out of college with a bachelors degree in accounting, what type of jobs would i qualify for, outside of just being an accountant.
